Expo & Cultural Event Showcases Philippine Products, Food and Talents.

On August 10 and 11, fans of emerging Filipino food, products and their talents are in for a rate treat at the 21st Fiesta in America’s expo and cultural show at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The fiesta (festival) usually gets Filipinos coming to the event also for its popular guest celebrities and performers, but this year there are so many things to celebrate about the Philippines that even non-Filipinos have started enjoying the food (halo-halo, anyone?), performances and tourism packages offered at the event.

More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the event to make it yet another large indoor gathering of Filipinos in New Jersey as well as other Filipinos from other US cities.

Several big name brands in the US and the Philippines along with local small businesses are expected to be part of this huge event. Attendees can expect almost non-stop entertainment from American tribute bands to Philippine pop performers, comedy acts and cultural dances.

Fiesta in America’s trade expo will provide businessmen and women several opportunities to network, whether they are a Philippine-based company that manufactures export-grade products, or one that sells real estate for investment—not to mention US-based businesses that deal in finance, remittance or consumer goods.

General Admission is $26. Click here for tickets. Parking is free. For more information, visit fiestainamerica.com, email at info@fiestainamerica.com or call 212.682.6610.

Farmer’s Market

Saturday, August 10 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at Williams Plaza

The Rutherford Farmer’s Market is in its 22nd season. The market is sponsored this year by the Borough of Rutherford. The governing body welcomes the opportunity to support regional farmers by allowing them to market quality products in our downtown area. To remain competitive, farmers need to be able to develop new markets for agricultural products grown on their farms. These markets provide the economic activity necessary to help preserve farmland and open space, which in turn contributes to a better quality of life in our region. Our borough benefits because market patrons have access to fresh, high quality produce and our local businesses enjoy increased business activity.

Vendors for this year include:

• Becca’s Bakery –Amish baked goods: apple dumplings, whoopie pies, donuts, breads, cookies, honey, jams and apple butter - Wednesdays

• Sy Grisconis Farm – Fresh produce

• Dr. Pickle – Pickles and brine cured products - Wednesdays

• Black Sheep Irish Bakery – Scottish and Irish sweet and savory baked goods, Wednesdays beginning July 3 through August 28

• Dutch Hill Farm – Pork products and poultry, every other Wednesday beginning June 19th

• Kariba Farms – All natural and organic dried fruits and nuts
