16th Annual Multicultural Festival

Saturday, May 18th @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Rutherford Civil Rights Commission and the Borough of Rutherford present the 16th Annual Multicultural Festival at Lincoln Park, Rutherford. Free Admission. International Food, Children’s Activities, Vendors & Entertainment.

This year’s festival will feature free entertainment at the Lincoln Park band shell all day long. Dancers, singers and performers from around the world will perform, from countries including Poland, Ireland, Korea, Japan, South America, Africa, India, and more. The energy of the Native American dance group, the emotional lyrics of our R&B performers, and the many adorable local children’s groups make this event a must-see for all.

Plus, there’s fun for the whole family. Kids activities include face painting and arts and crafts, while flea market booths sell stunning jewelry, handmade artwork and unique clothing. Enjoy a tasty lunch at one of the international food vendors – and guests aged 21 and over can savor a cold brew in the outdoor beer and wine garden next to the stage.

Many of Rutherford’s own community organizations contribute and participate in the festival, including the Friends of the Library and the Historic Preservation Committee – come and meet your neighbors.

The event is the annual celebration of the Rutherford Civil Rights Commission (RCRC). An official branch of the Borough of Rutherford, the RCRC works to ensure that all town citizens are provided equal rights and treated with respect. The RCRC’s mission is to eliminate discrimination, increase public awareness of civil rights through advocacy and education and offer conflict resolution services and mediation for civil rights matters. The only civil rights organization in Bergen County, the RCRC was founded in 1964 and has been a valuable resource to town residents ever since.

Join to celebrate the beautiful diversity within Rutherford and around the world!

“Cancer has taken too many members of my family and that is why I got involved with the Relay For Life movement. This event hosted in the Rutherford community gives me the opportunity to fight back in honor of my relatives who have been affected by this disease.” – Relay For Life of Rutherford Committee Member.

The American Cancer Society is the cause fighting cancer on every front; standing shoulder to shoulder with cancer patients and those supporting them. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.

Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event can last up to 24 hours and empowers communities to take a stand against cancer.

In addition to the support of the community, Relay For Life of Rutherford is also supported by many local businesses and organizations.

Together, we can beat our biggest rival. Join or donate to the Relay For Life of Rutherford. Visit www.RelayForLife.org/RutherfordNJ for more information.
