Rutherford’s Fourth of July celebration took place this Saturday, July 1. The day commenced with the 91st Annual Baby Parade followed by Fireworks at Memorial Field. Rutherford is also offering many additional fun activities for residents of all ages!
Rutherford’s Summer Concert Series has returned on Summer Thursdays, kicking off this past week with the band McGill & Company. They performed several recognizable songs across different genres of Pop, Rock, and Country. Notable songs included “Silly Little Love Songs” by Paul McCartney and The Wings, “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, and a mashup of “Take me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver and “Wagon Wheel” by Hootie and the Blowfish member Darius Rucker. There will be a concert each Thursday in Lincoln Park for the next seven weeks at 7 pm. Next up is Rutherford Community Band this Thursday, July 6, followed by Swingman and the Misfit Muffs, Rock Kandy, Royal Scam, Big House, Kimon & the Prophets, and Kurt & the Marty Band.
Rutherford has continued the annual Farmer's Market as well. You can visit on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning July 5 through October 28 in William’s Plaza Park Ave. The Farmer's Market provides easy access to healthy produce.
The Williams Center is also offering a number of events throughout the summer to keep everyone entertained. On Art House Tuesdays, the theater will screen experimental and independent films. Ghibli Sundays presents the movies of beloved filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki at 4 pm on select Sundays. Thursday Board Game Nights are weekly and free, allowing attendees to participate in a variety of old and new games. You can also attend and participate in a Comedy Open Mic or stay for the Comedy All-Star lineup including Dave Juskow, J-L Cauvin, John Moses, James Mac, and Lou Perez. Additionally, the Rutherford Public Library is offering a variety of events for children, teens, and adults. Children can participate in Book Bingo, Story Time, or cooking and music workshops. Teens can participate in teen game time or a teen Book Talk to gain recommendations and insight into books from people their age, while adults can attend author talks from Charles Soule, Ethan Kross, or Erika Sanchez, a movie screening of Women Talking, and more! There are also reading challenges throughout the summer for children, young adults, and adults. Children keep a reading log for prizes, while young adults and adults participate in a bingo card challenge. Click here to learn more about upcoming events at the Rutherford Public Library.
