Read Across America Celebration

Over the years, Read Across American Day has become Read Across America “Week” at Washington School.  Students and parents had the opportunity to shop for their favorite books at the PTA sponsored Scholastic Book Fair.  The students enjoyed visits from Board of Education Trustee, Ms. Diane Jones and Officer Brian Caughey from the Rutherford Police Department. They served as guest readers during our morning assemblies.  On Read Across America Day itself, students from Rutherford High School, along with their advisors, Mr. Michael Stracco and Ms. Margaret Nastasi, visited our classrooms to read and do an activity with the students.  The day ended with a Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R) time with students reading quietly in the hallways amongst their peers.
