Great Achievements in the RPD

Submitted by the Rutherford Police Department

Officiating the oath of office to Chief John R. Russo was New Jersey Attorney General Grubir Grewal.

On Friday, January 31, 2020 several members of the Rutherford Police Department attended the 2020 Installation Dinner of Police Chief John R. Russo who became the President of The Bergen County Police Chiefs Association.

Members of the Rutherford Police Department were honored to celebrate Chief Russo’s accomplishment. Sergeant Julie Ann Zeigler explained, “Chief Russo is a true dedicated professional leader and with his leadership, we know he will continue to make steadfast progress for not only our community but also the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association.”

The Rutherford Police Department would also like to congratulate the 2020 Bergen County Police Chiefs Association Board of Officers who were administered their oath by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police awarded certification status to seven (7) deserving police executives on February 6, 2020. Lieutenant Sean Farrell from the Rutherford Police Department has been awarded the designation as an Accredited Command Executive for the RPD. In doing such, his dedication, drive for continued higher education, and hard work has allowed the RPD to join a select group. Only thirty-three percent (33%) of state police chiefs are certified, and only twenty-nine percent (29%) of municipalities have certified command executives. Rutherford is now once of those elite municipalities.
