Directors of the St. Mary’s CYO, Tom Lewis and Brian Redington are working with others from the community to organization this event, including, Missy Scanlon (Sean Moran’s sister), Matt Stone, and Adam Lawdanski. There will be food, a DJ, and action-packed basketball games. “We are so grateful for the support of BCB Bank and James Rizzo who sponsors this event. We could not do what we do without their loyal support,” explained Tom Lewis.

Sean Moran was Tom Lewis’ best friend, coach and mentor. Sadly, Sean passed away in 2016 at age 56. Sean, also known as Coach Mo, was a dedicated Boys Basketball Coach at his alma mater, St. Mary’s and he believed in teaching life lessons through basketball.

Tom Lewis told TIR, “I started a non-profit in honor of Sean last year. The money raised during events such as the Summer Slam is used to benefit the community. We recently purchased an expandable bench for the soccer teams and we often buy other equipment that the sports teams need that is not within the Recreation department's budget. All of the money we raise goes back to the community in some way. Giving back to the community is the one of the best ways to honor my friend Sean”
