On Thursday, March 26th, the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce invited the community to their new home in the Rutherford Train Station. The Rutherford Historic Preservation Society, the Meadowlands Museum, and local Rutherford historian Billy Neumann set up an informative exhibit about the history of the Rutherford Train Station and included other Rutherford memorabilia as well. Lifelong resident, Rutherford EMS volunteer since 1962, and President of the New York Society of Model Engineers, Doug Chadwick, brought a model of one of the first trains to ride on the Rutherford train tracks, which both children and adults enjoyed seeing displayed.
Tom Krosnowski, News 12 Anchor, visited the station to cover this story and to help share more about the Chamber's new location and the excitement about upcoming World Cup Games. The Scouts greeted people boarding and exiting the NJ Transit trains and visitors to the train station and invited them inside to learn more about the history of the station, the Chamber of Commerce, and to enjoy refreshments. The refreshments were graciously donated by Matera's Italian Market & Catering.
President of the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce, Dan Meredith, thanked those who assisted in making this all happen, "The Chamber would like to thank Mayor Frank Nunziato, the Rutherford Borough Council, and NJ Transit for coming together to make this new home of the Rutherford Chamber possible. Also, a great big thank you to our community partners, whose partnership and support have made last night and our future possible. Thank you Felician University, This is Rutherford, and the Borough of Rutherford. Working together towards a bright future for the Rutherford business community. Lastly, thank you to the dedicated Rutherford Chamber Board of Directors and our membership of over 250 local businesses and non-profits."
