RHS Musical Wins Award Nomination!

Submitted by Brian Ersalesi and Courtney McManus

For the second time, Rutherford High School competed in the Metro Awards.  The Metro Awards is a competition for high schools in Bergen, Rockland, Putnam, and Westchester counties that honors excellence in musical theatre.  RHS’ production of Mamma Mia! Was judged against 56 other schools.

This year, the Rutherford High School theatre program was honored with a nomination in the category of Outstanding Vocal Performance.  Sophomore Julia Alati embodied the quintessential “Dancing Queen” in her role as Donna Sheridan, wowing crowds with her singing chops.

This is RHS’ second nomination since entering in the competition last year. Previously, the program received a nomination in the category of Outstanding Duet (Morgan Sherlock ‘18 and Tierra Sherlock ‘20).

The cast will travel to SUNY Purchase on June 10 to participate in the Metro Awards and to cheer on their cast-mate Julia.  The creative team is proud of the cast and crew!
