The New Jersey High School Consumer Bowl is an educational competition for high school students across the state. It was established in 1997 to educate young adults on a variety of consumer issues. Students from Rutherford High School have participated in this competition for many years and over the last few years, including this year, they were named Consumer Bowl County Champs. Teacher team leader, Ms. Cheryl Bott, explained, "Kids work really hard learning all the NJ consumer laws and participate in the competition as a team. There are individual, team and lightning round questions where points are earned.
Rutherford High School students Sarah Iorio, Danielle Della Torre, Cate Metzger, Graham Jordan, and Sofia Tran all participated in the Consumer Bowl this year at the Bergen County Courthouse in Hackensack.

For many months, students spend their lunch periods studying for this event a few days per week. As County Champs, they will move onto the Regionals that will take place on April 24th in Cedar Grove and then onto the State Finals which will take place in May.
