Magic & Comedy for a Cause

For over 25 years, local magician, Kevin Lane, has been performing in and around the Rutherford area. Kevin is a close friend of Rutherford business owner Cliff Witmyer of Cliffhanger Productions and a familiar face to so many who have seen him performing in local events such as the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce's many Uncorked fundraisers, Rutherford Day, Halfway to St. Patrick's Day, and so much more. Kevin has been described as just a regular guy who loves to do what he does best... make people smile and laugh with a joke and some magic.

Recently Kevin was hit with the news that he has cancer of the kidneys, spine, brain, and aorta. Unfortunately, the cancer has also spread to his lymphatic system. Kevin was given the news that no one can ever expect; he only has a short time to live and may not live longer than a year. Many months of opinions and treatments have led to Kevin's understanding that he needs to live his life to the fullest and fulfill a lifelong dream of performing an illusion show in front of a large crowd.

When Kevin learned about his cancer diagnosis, he was also faced with the news that his longtime friend and fellow illusionist Kurt Kristler unexpectedly died shortly after hearing the news about Kevin's diagnosis. As a result, Kevin put together a one-night-only magic and comedy event, to raise money for cancer research, and to pay tribute to his friend and colleague, illusionist Kurt Kristler.

This special event will happen on January 25th, at 7 PM at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center. Proceeds will benefit the Relay For Life of Clifton & Rutherford. The money donated to the Relay For Life will go to local cancer caregivers, patient resources, and much-needed research for a cure for cancer.

This will not only be a fun night out to be enjoyed with friends and family, it will be a show to remember for an important cause and a great guy. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased here.
