Submitted by the Rutherford Police Department
Tuesday, November 24, 2020, was a momentous day for Rutherford as the leaders broke ground at the future site of the town’s new police department behind Borough Hall. The new facility will provide more space for the growing agency and state of the art services to our community.
This has been a long process and we want to say thank you for all of the support from Mayor Frank Nunziato, all of the Borough Council members, Borough Administrator Robert Kakoleski, and the community.
Police Chief John R. Russo, offered his heartfelt thanks to the people and the community that came together to make the new station a reality. He also commended the police department members for working in the old facility and doing the best they could over the years. The law enforcement profession, especially here in New Jersey continues to make tremendous progress at an unbelievable pace and this state of the art facility will allow our department to keep stride and continue to be at the forefront of that march forward.
The current facility did suffice at one time and it deserves full credit for what it did offer and provide this town over the years. We’re proud of that, but it’s time to move on to a new facility that will allow us to serve our community with state of the art equipment while providing the utmost safety to all who visit and work there
